Based on the life of girls residing in Mumbai, there will be four heroines – Gul Panag, Celina Jaitley. Divya Dutt and Isha Koppikar – in this film and they are.
In addition, Javed Jaffery and Chunkey Pandey will be seen in this film, while Sunny Deol will make a guest appearance. The interesting thing about this film is that despite having so many heroes and heroines, none of them are paired or opposite each other.
Having worked under Subhash Ghai for so many years, is Manoj now under any sort of tension?
Replying to this question, Manoj says, "I have worked with Subhashji for so long and he knows how I work. Since he has seen me on the job, he can blindly trust on me and I am also confident and sure of this.
Subhashji is aware of the fact that I just don't believe on words, but work matters to me most. In fact, I cannot do anything without Subhashji's help and support"
At a time when all and sundry are in a hurry to become independent directors, why is it that it took such a long time for Manoj to make his debut as an independent director?
"Actually, I have always given top priority to the story and hence I was waiting for the right story to direct my first film. I firmly believe that it is easy to become a director, but very difficult to establish as a successful director.
I don't want to make films for my personal satisfaction, but for the entertainment of the audience as well as offering some social message," said Manoj, adding, "I am confident that I will be able to prove my worth through this film."
Normally, after the director and story, the star cast matters most for the success of a film. And since ‘Hello Darling' is based on heroines, the role and responsibility of the director is more.
Responding to this issue, Manoj says, "You are absolutely right. I personally feel that there could have been no better heroines than Isha, Gul and Celina in my film. Everyone has been selected for the role they fit in.
As far as Celina is concerned, I have worked with her in ‘Apna Sapna Money Money' and I like her way of work and behavior. I have worked with Isha Koppikar in '36 China Town' and frankly speaking, I am a fan of her.
Isha is a terrific actress with whom no director has done justice so far. As far as Gul Panag is concerned, I have watched her in ‘Dhoop' and ‘Dor' and liked both the films. I am confident that she will do total justice to the role of an urban girl."
Manoj goes on to substantiate, "In addition, there are Javed Jaffery and Chunkey Pandey.
I have worked with Chunkey Pandey in ‘Apna Sapna Money Money' and I feel that his way of working and his comic ability are excellent.
And as far as Javed is concerned, what should I say about him. Everyone is aware of his capabilities and I feel that if he wasn't in my film, the comedy aspect of ‘Hello Darling' would have remained incomplete."
In these days of ‘khichdi' cinema, not only people are making all kinds of films, but many of them are even being appreciated. However, these days the market of comedy films is at its best. So did Manoj too want to make a comedy film to cash the trend?
"No, I did not want to make a comedy film, but one that all can understand and enjoy. I personally am against ‘khichdi' films that have some amounts of comedy, romance, action, thrills and emotions.
This is the reason that when I say that my film will be a comedy, it will be a pure comedy film. There will be no ‘rona-dhona' (sobbing) scenes in it," clarifies Manoj.
Talking about the film's story, Manoj says, "As I have said earlier, this film is based on the life of urban girls residing in Mumbai and revolves around the theme of their problems in pursuing their careers living alone.
Though Mumbai forms the background of the films, this can happen in any Indian city.
At the same time, I want to tell the audience that this is a comedy film and they should not take everything shown – the problems faced by the girls in the film seriously. All that I want is to present these problems in a comic way before the audience."
Right from the film ‘Karz' to ‘Apna Sapna Money Money', Mukta Arts has been very particular about the music score of the films and has established new milestones. It would not be wrong to state that music score has been the identity of Mukta Arts.
So, what is the kind of music that has been composed for ‘Hello Darling'? "Look my film is projecting the urban life and it has parties and dreams and keeping this in view the music of the film is mind blowing.
Altogether there are four songs in this film and I am taking Subhashji's help for the music of this film. Actually, I am seeking his help for the entire film as I cannot do anything without his help. - Rajnee Gupta
